A sympathetic presentation of the truth and traditions of Chinese Buddhism written for the benefit of the Christian church in China. It includes chapters on its introduction and development, the Buddhist Pantheon in China, literature, monastic life and pilgrimages. It is a translation of the book, Fra Östens Religiöse Liv, itself based on lectures delivered in the Scandinavian Universities in 1921 by Karl Ludvig Reichelt (1877-1952) and arranged for publication by the Olaus Petri Foundation at Uppsala. Several later editions of this translation were also published in Shanghai.
