FIRST EDITION. 8vo. 9 x 5.75 inches. [12] + 50 pp. + [2] pp., including colophon with limitation statement. Bound in original quarter linen spine over green patterned boards. Deckled edges. Pictorial endpapers. A little wear to extremities with one corner slightly bumped and some foxing of page edges. Decorated by title page vignette, by initials and by publisher's device on colophon page. Limited edition of a new collection of poems, concentrating on the theme of nature. Edmund Blunden (1896-1974) is best known as a war poet and especially for his later prose account, Undertones of War, based on his experiences at the Western Front. He later pursued a literary career, was elected Professor of Poetry at Oxford in 1966, and also wrote on cricket. The Beaumont Press, in existence 1917-31, published several of Blunden's poems in a similar format, designed and illustrated by Randolph Schwabe (1885-1948), war artist in both wars and Slade Professor of Fine Art, University College, London from 1930
