8vo. 128 pp. Bound in original navy cloth, gilt, in pictorial unclipped dust wrapper, which has slight foxing and some chips at head and tail of spine; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 16 pages of black and white plates and by maps, charts and tables in text. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. Three local perspectives on the oil tanker Torrey Canyon disaster, whose 1967 shipwreck contaminated the beaches of Cornwall with oil. Crispin Gill were both members of the editorial staff of the Western Morning News. Tony Soper (1929-24), who wrote the appendix on the treatment of oiled birds, was a naturalist, author and broadcaster and a co-founder of the BBC Natural History Unit.
