Vol. I, xviii+ 464 pp.; Vol. II, v + 468 pp.; Vol. III, xi + [iii] + 448 pp.; Vol. IV, viii + 448 pp.; Vol. V, viii + 454 pp.; Vol. VI, viii + 456 pp.; Vol. VII, vii + 454 pp.; Vol. VIII, vii + [i] + 455 pp.; Vol. IX, vi + 459 pp.; Vol. X, xvi + 583 pp. [Total: 4783 pp.]. Bound in half green leather, over green boards; spine in compartments with raised bands, decorated gilt with gilt title. All edges gilt. A little wear to extremities, including corners, some flyleaves and preliminaries foxed and scattered foxing elsewhere; otherwise a very good set. Later decorated bookplates. Early signature on first free endpaper of Vol. I. Illustrated by portrait frontispiece, protected by tissue guard and throughout by wood engraved vignettes. Decorated by vignettes on title pages. Ten volume uniform edition of the complete prose and verse works of Thomas Hood (1793-1845), poet, humorist and magazine publisher (including the Comic Annual) and contributor (including Punch). A seven volume edition was published 1862-63. Edited by his son, Tom Hood (1835-74), playwright and humorist and daughter, Francis Freeling Broderip (1830-78), children's author. Vol. X includes The Memorials of Thomas Hood in 468 pages. A handsomely bound set.
