FIRST EDITION. 8vo. 8.75 x 5.5 inches. 96 pp. Bound in original brown cloth, gilt, in unclipped pictorial dust wrapper, which is slightly browned along top edge. Slight foxing of fore edge; otherwise a very good clean copy. Illustrated by text figure vignettes, including title page vignette. Decorated by publisher's device on verso of title. Nature and pastoral poems of John Clare (1797-1864), selected for young readers by John Powell, who was Reference Librarian at Northampton Public Library, and in charge of the Clare Collection there. The selection is introduced by the poet, Edmund Blunden (1896-1974), an editor of, and authority on, Clare. Illustrated by the artist and wood engraver John O'Connor (1912-2004).
