A work of historical fiction featuring the Scottish prince, Alexander Stewart (c.1343-1405), Earl of Buchan and lord of Badenoch, who became later known as the Wolf of Badedoch for his destructive hostility to the church. He was notorious for his burning of the royal burgh of Elgin and its cathedral in the province of Moray. The first volume of a trilogy by Charles Mackie (1920-2009), Scottish wartime surgeon lieutenant RNVR, and later historical novelist (Goodreads website).
