First published in 1780, the early issues of this little guide, have very eccentric pagination and many cancel pages but by the time of this 1801 edition, the print layout had become much more regular. This copy corresponds to Goulden 17 but has fourteen rather than thirteen plates and does not include the list of rare plants at the end. A very attractive Tunbridge Wells guide with a fine collection of copper engravings, paying particular attention to the major sites of interest in the locality including country seats, which are described in detail with lists of paintings (e.g. at Knowle and Mereworth House).
