8vo. 7.26 x 5 inches. [viii] + 191 + [1] pp. + [2] pp. publisher's note on text tipped in. Bound in imitation vellum, gilt, with decorative inner borders enclosing gilt titles. Deckled edges. Spine and board edges a little sunned and some foxing of page edges, especially top edge and flyleaves; otherwise a very good copy. 1929 gift inscription on first free endpaper. Dedication to King George V engraved by Eric Gill. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. 'Robert Bridges was a classicist. His experimentation with 18th-century classical forms culminated in The Testament of Beauty, generally acknowledged as his masterpiece.' (Robert Bridges. The Poetry Foundation website). Reprint published in the same year as the first edition of 1929. Robert Bridges (1844-1930) was Poet Laureate 1913-30. A handsome edition with dedication engraved by Eric Gill.
