A very good copy of this rare issue, the upper cover has some very faint water marks and some very slight loss of gilt, however this is a fine example of the rare deluxe issue.

First edition, deluxe issue. 12mo. 5.6 X 4.25 inches. 86 pp. Blue moiré cloth with gilt stamped decoration and colour onlay to the upper cover. Pictorial endpapers. All edges gilt.
Colour frontis and colour plates throughout by the author.
In 1904 Warne asked Beatrix Potter to provide a design for a deluxe edition of her new book, and a small number were produced in a fine, silk moiré cloth, the page edges gilded and the design to the covers embossed in gilt. These deluxe copies sold at the higher price of 1/6-, rather than the usual 1/- for the standard paper covered copies.
