A history of English gardens, mainly from the medieval period. Appendix II is a thirty page bibliography arranged chronologically. Eleanour Sinclair Rohde (1881-1950) was a distinguished garden creator, advisor, bibliographer and historian, based at Reigate, with a particular interest in herbs and herb gardens. A prolific author on these subjects, many of her works were published by The Medici Society until 1938. Parts of this book originally appeared in periodical articles.
