Minor wear, slight sunning of extremities and traces of foxing, but otherwise a fine clean coy. Illustrated by colour frontispiece and by 57 text figures. Scholarly study of the British aquatic and earthworms, attractively presented. Hilderic Friend (1852-1940) was a Wesleyan minister serving rural circuits and a naturalist who also published on botany. He discovered many new worm species.
