A collection of short stories set among the colony of Anglo-American expatriates who lived in Florence in the early decades of the twentieth century. Harold Acton 1904-94) was an author, scholar and self-styled aesthete, who wrote poetry, novels and novellas, short stories and on aspects of Italian history. He was born just outside the walls of Florence to an Anglo-Italian American family and educated at Eton and Oxford.
