TWO VOLUMES. Thick 8vo. 8.25 x 5.75 inches. Volume I, xl + [ii] + 460 pp.; Volume II, x + [ii] ?459 pp. Bound in original blue cloth, gilt, with gilt block on spine. Deckled edges. In pictorial slipcase, which has some edge wear. A little wear to extremities and boards have traces where labels have been removed. Occasional foxing including flyleaves, but otherwise a very good set. Ex-library copy with labels and stamps. A detailed account of the South's activities overseas by James Dunwoody Bulloch (1823-1901), chief agent of the Confederate States in Britain, resident in LIverpool. He was active in operating blockade runners and commerce raiders and arranged for a number of warships to be constructed for the Confederate Navy. He also arranged for the sale of southern cotton to English merchants and for the supply of armaments to the South. First edition published in London 1883 and New York 1884.
