First edition of James Wyld's map of the theatre of war in the Crimea, published 9 August 1854. Includes inset maps of the Black Sea area and of The Town and Harbour of Sevastopol with the Batteries and Approaches. The second edition was published in September and a third later in the year. In 1855 Wyld exhibited a model of Sevastopol in Leicester Square. James Wyld (1812-87) succeeded his father, James Wyld the Elder, in the family map making business in 1836.
