Illustrated by colour portrait frontispiece, by 24 pages of photographic plates and by 27 maps, including 7 folding. Map endpapers. Decorated by regimental crest vignette at head of title. A history of the Royal West Kent Regiment in the inter-war years and the Second World War through to 1950. It includes the service of the various battalions in Palestine, 1938-39, the retreat to Dunkirk and the home front,and overseas service in Malta, Egypt and Iraq, North West Africa, Sicily, the Italian campaign, Greece and Burma.
