FIRST EDITION. 8vo. 7.5 x 5.75 inches. 63 + [1] pp. Bound in original pale green cloth, with dark green pictorial titles. Rough cut edges. A little wear to extremities, including corners and fly leaves browned; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 12 plates, including frontispiece and by vignette title. An operatic version of the German folkloric legend of the Pied Piper of Hamelin by Robert Buchanan (1841-1901), Scottish poet, novelist and dramatist. With the pen and ink drawings of Hugh Thomson (1860-1920), Irish illustrator of the Cranford School of illustrators.
