FIRST EDITION. Large 8vo. 10 x 6.5 inches. xvii + 96 pp. Bound in original orange cloth, gilt, in pictorial dust wrapper, which has lightly sunned spine. Minor wear to extremities, some foxing of edges and small sellotape marks on lower edges of front and rear flyleaves; otherwise a very good clean copy. Illustrated by nine colour plates, including frontispiece and by 97 pages of black and white plates, including portrait recto of frontispiece. Well illustrated survey of eighteenth century Worcester porcelain with an account of the discoveries made at the excavation of the original factory site, directed by the author. Henry Sandon (b.1928), antiques expert and author, specialising in ceramics, especially Worcester ware. He was Curator of the Dyson Perrins Museum at the Royal Worcester Factory,1966-82.
