Manchester; boards with ornamental gilt border enclosing School coat of arms; Spine in compartments, decorated gilt, with gilt title. Marbled edges and endpapers. Scattered foxing, including fore edge, but otherwise a very good copy. Grammar School Brigg prize certificate 1909 on front pastedown. Illustrated by 16 pages of plates, including frontispiece. The third volume in the Arthur Pendennis series by Thackeray (1811-63), which appeared in serial parts, 1848-50, before the book form edition followed. A handsome presentation binding by James Galt and Co. of Manchester.
