Notes

Well illustrated account of expeditions to Turkestan, Assam, South West China, Nepal, Tibet, the Andaman Islands, Celebes, Galapagos Celebes, Upper Burma and Ethiopia. Suydam Cutting (1889-1972), US explorer and naturalist travelled the world on numerous expeditions and was an early westerner to enter the forbidden city of Lhasa in 1935. He served in the US army in both world wars and also acted as an amateur spy, reporting to President Roosevelt. The title was first published by Scribner in the US and by Collins in 1940. This 1947 Collins reprint was printed in the US.
