Item Description
Large 39 x 26 inches, 99 x 66 cm. Hand-coloured single sheet engraved Sea Chart, Old central fold and one or two foxing marks otherwise a clean fresh copy, nicely hand coloured, a fine example. Detailed description of the coast from Dover to Margate with coastal landmarks shown that were used for navigation as well as towns of Margate, Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Sandwich, Deal round to Dover. The various Lighthouses are shown and other relevant features. Depth soundings are shown along the coast and sand-banks of the Goodwin Sands and the positions of the floating Lightships and Beacons. These are also drawn for identification as are the entrance to Ramsgate Harbour and the North and South Foreland Lighthouses. The appearance of the land from the sea are also drawn in a series of views along the right hand boarder.
