The letters are valuable both as literature and as a historical source for the period. Volume 1 includes a section on Money and coinage of the age of Erasmus and Volume 2, on The purchasing power of coins and wages in England and the Low Countries from 1500 to 1514, both by John H. Munro. Both volumes include Tables of Correspondents and Short Title Forms for Erasmus' Works.
