8vo. 6 x 9 inches. ix + 280 pp. Bound in original green cloth, gilt, in dust wrapper, which has sunned spine, stains on rear jacket and minor edge wear. Slight wear to extremities, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by facsimile frontispiece. The play, by John Wilson (1626-90), playwright, ardent supporter of James II and Recorder of Derry, c.1681, is a caricature of a Presbyterian minister, first performed in 1663. This edition is based on the playhouse manuscript and has the cues for the actors and the names of the principal players. It also includes changes made in the quarto editions and by censorship of the play and a biography of Wilson, based on hitherto unused manuscript material. Edited by Milton C. Nahm (1903) who was a Rhodes scholar at Oxford and later Professor of Philosophy at Bryn Mawr College, USA.
