Oblong 4to. 8 x 10 inches. 144 pp. Bound in original red cloth, in price clipped pictorial dust wrapper. A fine copy. Illustrated throughout in colour and black and white. Following an introduction, the whole page plates in colour and black and white reproduce the dust wrapper designs of the various Batsford topographical and descriptive series on Britain, published from 1932. They were the work of Brian Cook (Brian Cook Batsford from 1946) (1910-91), painter, designer, publisher and politician,who joined the family publishing firm in 1928, becoming chairman in 1952. The bold vibrant colours made these books highly collectible. the book includes a five page checklist of all the titles at the end.
