July 1888 signature on front pastedown. Illustrated by 14 plates of cartoon drawings and by sketch at beginning of preface. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. A verse political satire on Gladstone's Irish Home Rule Policy by Charles Larcom Graves (1856-1944), the uncle of Robert Graves, Irish born writer and satirist, largely resident in England, where he was a Punch staff writer. The cartoons are by George Roland Halkett (1855-1918), artist, editor, political cartoonist and also a Punch contributor. A copy of the scarce first edition.
