8vo, in fours. 6.75 x 4.5 inches. xii + [11] -186 pp. Bound in contemporary green cloth,gilt, boards with blind stamped borders enclosing central decoration, spine decorated gilt. spine sunned with damage at head and tail; otherwise a very good copy. Later pencil note on subscribers, with signature, on front pastedown. Anglo-Welsh poetry edited with substantial notes by James Motley (1822-59). Born in Leeds, he spent time in South Wales, where his father had mining interests. He travelled to South East Asia to supervise a mining enterprise and settled in Borneo as superintendent of a coal mine until, he lost his life in a local uprising. A scarce title.
