Front board and spine damp stained but otherwise a very good clean copy. Illustrated by portrait frontispiece, by 14 pages of black and white plates, including facsimiles and by text figure and genealogical table. Selections from the writings of John Byrom (1691-1763 of Manchester, F.R.S., poet, hymnwriter and inventor of a system of shorthand. Edited by Henri Talon (1909-72) of the University of Dijon, with a foreword by Bonamy Dobree (1892-1974) Professor of English Literature at the University of Leeds, 1936-65.
