Item Description
Oblong 8vo. 7.25 x 10.25 inches 8 leaves, one blank. Album with corded spine and gilt title, and embossed name of publisher, in wrapper, which is worn with edge damage and damp stain on top edges. Title faded, but interior in very good condition. Illustrated by 15 titled sepia prints made from photographs and attached with photo corners. Album of the coastal village of Sandgate village, Kent with evocative views taken in the Edwardian period. The Sandgate Hill Lift, which opened in 1893 is shown as are the tram lines in the High Street (from 1891). No motor vehicles appear, which suggests an early Edwardian date. The album was published, possibly as blank leaves, by E. Stace, it has not been possible to trace this business, although there was an Arthur Stace, stationer, etc. later in the century.
