Bound in original quarter cloth, gilt, over cloth boards, with gilt blocks, in price clipped pictorial dust wrapper, with pasted in colour prints on front board and spine, with edge wear including loss at head and of spine, which is darkened and stained. A little wear to extremities, some stains on edges of front boards and occasional light foxing, largely confined to fore edge; otherwise a very good copy. 1945 pasted in inscription on first free endpaper and bookplate.

Notes

An early edition of this extensively illustrated volume in the Lonsdale Library of Sports, Games and Pastimes, series edited by the Earl of Lonsdale and Eric Parker, also the editor for this volume. Eric Parker (1870-1955) was Editor-in-Chief of The Field and a writer on sport, topography and natural history. A comprehensive guide to salmon fishing, including its life history and the manufacture and use of artificial flies. An edition, including actual examples of artificial flies, was first published in 1931.
