This book is published to accompany an exhibition at the Yale Centre for British Art, New Haven (13 November 1991-19 January 1992) and at the Petit Palais, Paris (5 March 1992-17 May 1992). Sumptuous exhibition catalogue of the English landscape and genre painter, Richard Parkes Bonnington (1802-28) and his contemporaries. The first half of the book discusses Bonnington's life and work; the second reproduces in colour, 140 of his oil paintings, watercolours and lithographs and twenty five works by French and English artists with whom he is most closely associated. Patrick Noon was the Curator of Prints, Drawings and Rare Books at the Yale Centre for British Art, 1777-1997.
