Notes
From Ickenham, Middlesex down to Slinfold, near Horsham in the east, the map extends to about three miles off Ramsgate including the entire Thames Estuary and part of Essex. The southern border runs from Slinfold via Ardingly, Crowborough, Hawkhurst, and Appledore as far as Dymchurch. This map is centred on Maidstone and has had circles at one inch intervals neatly drawn in ink, radiating out to the edges of the map, giving two mile radii. Major roads, railways, parks and county boundaries are drawn or washed in colour. Maps such as this were produced, usually to order, centred around a point selected by the client and the publisher would use sheets from the appropriate O/S maps and provide extras like hand-colouring, etc.
