8vo. 6.75 x 4.25 inches. vii + 312 pp. Title page in green and brown. Bound in mottled brown mock leather cloth, gilt, with Minerva roundel on front board. Top edge gilt. Brown marbled endpapers. A little wear to extremities, including corners and base of spine. Some foxing of edges, but otherwise a very good copy. Decorated by vignettes on sub title and title pages, Essays on science, medicine and religion by John Burdon Sanderson Haldane (1892-2964), versatile British scientist, who became an Indian citizen in 1961. First published 1927.
