TWO VOLUMES. 16mo. 5.5 x 3.5 inches. Vol. I, [iv] + 236 pp.; Vol. II, [iv] + 224 pp. Bound in half calf over marbled boards; spines in compartments with gilt bands and black title labels, gilt. A little wear to corners and occasional traces of foxing; otherwise a very good set. Illustrated by engraved title page vignettes. William Cowper (1731-1800) the poet, hymn writer and anti-slavery campaigner became an evangelical Christian and was joint author of the Olney Hymns and author of the comic verse, John Gilpin, included here. A handsome pocket size set, printed by Whittingham.
