The history of folklore in Britain with text extracts from the writings of the great folklorists, subdivided into the Antiquaries, the Mythologists, the Savage Folklorists and the 'Great Team' of Andrew Lang and his co-workers from the 1870s onwards. Richard M. Dorson (1916-81) was a pioneering US folklorist, Director of the Folklore Institute at Indiana University. He edited the Folktales of the World series, 1963-73.
