Notes
First published in Milan, 1964, the English edition is a slightly abridged version of the Italian one. An account of the author's travels in Mongolia, in three parts based on his interpreter, Aguan, Pulgin, a young shepherd who attaches himself to the author and his sister, Sayan, with whom he falls in love. Silvio Micheli (1911-90) from Viareggio, was an Industrial designer turned author who wrote on the Italian Resistance and the workers' struggle, most notably his novel, Pane duro, 1946.
