Notes
Such was the popularity of the Great Exhibition several London publishers produced large views of this phenomenal extravaganza. The view depicts a number of finely dressed Victorian patrons of the exhibit milling around an area that is dressed to resemble a Mediaeval era Court, complete with a glass case of antiquities from that era that is being closely admired. In the 1850s there was a very strongly influence of Gothic revival and all things Mediaeval were adapted into contemporary design.
