A few small marks on edges, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 16 pages of black and white photographic plates and by text figures,including facsimile. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. Letters of Ted Hughes, Poet Laureate, 1984-98. Their themes include correspondence from his marriage to poet, Sylvia Plath, reports on work in progress, accounts of fishing expeditions and social comment on England and the English. The selection of letters is by Christopher Reid (b.1949), poet and essayist, who worked with Hughes as Poetry Editor at Faber and Faber and was appointed Professor in Creative Writing at the University of Hull in 2007.
