A little wear to extremities and occasional scattered foxing; otherwise a very good copy, Illustrated by 16 black and white plate, including portrait frontispiece and facsimile. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. Facsimile signature on front pastedown. Includes letters written by and to Samuel Pepys, 1656-1703 and his Second Diary, 1683-84, featuring the visit to Tangier. Edited by Robert Guy Howarth (1906-74). Australian literary scholar, who held academic posts at Sydney University and later at the University of Cape Town.
