4to. 10.5 x 7.75 inches. [2] + 142 pp. Illustration captions in German, French and English. Bound imitation vellum over mottled boards with brown titles and city arms on front board. A fine copy in marbled slipcase. Illustrated throughout by sepia photographs, drawings maps and plans. A handsomely produced volume illustrating and describing Koblenz then and now, from the pre-war city through its wartime destruction, 1944-45 and its remarkable peacetime reconstruction by 1949. Edited by the Stadtarchiv Koblenz, with two sections compiled by its director, Hans Bellinghausen and two others by Fritz Michel and Fritz Berg. Although published in this year, this copy has an additional page inserted at the front to commemorate the visit of Herr Stadtdirektor Collins in April 1952, signed by the Oberburgmeister. Scarce de luxe edition also published in paperback.
