Large 8vo. 9.75 x 7.25 inches. 188 pp. Bound in original blue cloth, with titles in gilt and black and pictorial blocks, black. Extremities worn, with small water stains and some foxing, mostly confined to edges and margin, including plate margins, opposite p. 136; otherwise a very good copy. 1953 gift inscription on second free endpaper. Illustrated by 12 colour plates, including frontispieces and by 19 text drawings. Decorated by title page and preliminary vignettes. Pictorial endpapers. Authorised abridgement of the famous children's novel of J. M. Barrie, by May Byron (1861-1936), poet and author of books for children, biographies (A Day With series) and cookbooks. It is illustrated by the famous children's artist, Mabel Lucie Attwell (1879-1964). First published in 1938 (an earlier version had appeared in 1925), this popular large print adaptation has appeared in numerous subsequent editions.
