Large 8vo. 9.75 x 7.5 inches. 112 pp. Bound in original brown cloth, gilt, in price clipped pictorial dust wrapper. A very good copy Illustrated throughout by black and white photographs. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. A pictorial history of the Isles of Scilly through the photographs of four generations of the Gibson family, from John Gibson (1827-1920) to Frank Gibson (1929-2012); being well known for their shipwreck photographs. The section headings include an account of the family, Scillonians, Ships and the Sea, 'A Holiday Trip,' The Flower Industry, Events, War, Sea Birds and Round the Islands. The commentary is by John Arlott (1914-91), well known as a BBC cricket commentator, broadcaster and wine writer for the Guardian, who was a frequent visitor to the islands. In this Second Edition, the commentary is unchanged, but 'Fresh and sharper' photographers are provided.
