An account of the marriage of Edward II to Isabella of France, his relationships with his favourites, which bring about his downfall, and the later career of Isabella as the 'She-Wolf.' The author speculates on the matter of the king's fate, whether he was murdered at Berkeley Castle or escaped. Paul Doherty (b.1946) studied history at the Universities of Liverpool and Oxford and was the Headmaster of a London school. As well as writing on history, he has published numerous historical novels.
