8vo. 7.75 x 6.75 inches. xix + [i] + 212 pp. Bound in original green cloth, gilt, decorated with shamrocks. Top edge gilt. A little wear to extremities and foxing of flyleaves, but otherwise a very good copy. Newspaper cutting on St. Patrick's Day pasted on to first free endpaper. Signature on front pastedown. Illustrated by 32 colour plates, including frontispiece, protected by captioned tissue guards. A title in the A and C. Black colour books. This 1907 edition is in the 6s series, adapted from the first edition of 1906. The text is by Frank Matthew (1865-1924), historical novelist and barrister and the paintings by Irish artist, Francis S. Walker (1848-1916). (A and C Black Colour Books, 276).
