Oblong 8vo. 6.5 x 8.75 inches. [2] + 160 pp. Bound in black cloth, gilt. Newsprint pages. A little wear to extremities, including edges of spine and light browning of paper. Front hinge starting to crack, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 160 captioned cartoons Humorous satirical cartoons illustrating episodes from British history, first published in the Morning Leader in 1898 and later expanded and reprinted a number of times. Arthur Moreland (1867-1951) was the influential political cartoonist of the paper, founded in 1892 and merged with The Daily News in 1912 (British Newspaper Archive). Moreland later carried out freelance work, including book illustrating.
