8vo. 8 x 6 inches. 59 pp. Disbound pamphlet. Rough cut edges. Small stain at foot of title; otherwise a very good copy. Decorated by title page vignette and by initial. The text appeared originally in Volume 10, 1866-67 of the Miscellanies of the Philobiblon Society, published 1854-84, being communicated by a member, Robert Samuel Turner (1818-87), book collector. It consists of a transcript of the marginal notes of Horace Walpole (1717-97) in the Miscellaneous Works and memoirs of the Earl of Chesterfield (Philip Dormer Stanhope, 1694-1773), edited by Matthew Maty (1718-76), Dutch born Secretary of the Royal Society and second principal librarian of the British Museum, 1772-76.
