8vo. 7.75 x 5.25 inches. vii + [i] + 327 pp. Title page in red and black. Bound in original cream cloth, gilt, boards with blind stamped decoration and spine decorated gilt. Binder's label of Edmonds and Remnants, London. Some wear to extremities with edge chips. Fly leaves spotted, but otherwise a very good interior. Illustrated by 51 wood engraved plates by Orlando Jewitt, including frontispiece, and plans numbered in text and by text figures. Early edition of Murray's handbook to five western cathedrals of England, a title published 1862-1903, with preface signed by Richard John King (1818-79). With a fine collection of plates by Orlando Jewitt (1799-1869), architectural wood engraver and book illustrator, and bound by Edmonds and Remnants.
