Observations on animal and bird behaviour, angling, trees and the London parks. The Second Series contains then unpublished extracts from Gilbert White's Journals (which were not published in full until Richard Mabey's edition of 1986-88). Edward Jesse (1786-1868) was a a government clerk from 1798 and held various minor offices until he retired as surveyor of the royal parks and palaces. His edition of the Natural History of Selborne by Gilbert White, was published, 1851.
