FIRST EDITION. Folio. 14 x 11.5 inches. 129 + [2] pp. Bound in original black cloth, gilt, in pictorial dust wrapper which has edge and corner chips, including head and tail of spine. A few small stains on boards, which are a little sunned at head and tail of spine; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated throughout by captioned black and white photographs. A selection of photographs by George Platt Lynes (1907-55), US photographic artist,known for his male nudes. The sections of the book include Nudes, Mythology 1936-39, Portraits and Dance, with text by the editor for the Nudes section and by Glenway Wescott, Lncoln Kirstein and George Balanchine for the other three sections. At the end are a Chronology, Bibliography and Selected Exhibitions, Collections, etc. Limited first edition.
