4to. 8 x 5.75 inches. viii + [vi] + 298 pp. Bound in original faux vellum cream cloth, with blue titles, on front board within decorative blue borders and with gilt decorations. Bevelled board edges. Top edge gilt. Extremities worn, including chips at head of spine and a little marked on back. Flyleaves and some plate margins foxed; otherwise a very good copy. Bookplate. Illustrated by 20 photogravure plates protected by tissue guards captioned in red, including frontispiece. Account of the history, topography and life of Genoa by US novelist, Virginia Wales Johnson (1849-1916), first published in Boston also in 1892.
