8vo. 8 x 5.5 inches. [viii] + 152 pp. Bound in original blue cloth, gilt, boards with black decorated borders, enclosing gilt title block on front board; spine decorated gilt. Minor wear to extremities, including corners and head and tail of spine. A little foxing of flyleaves and edges, but otherwise a fine clean copy. Illustrated by 10 engraved plates, including frontispiece. A well illustrated collection of animal anecdotes, including a squirrel, blackbird, buzzards, foxes, a donkey, an elephant and various dogs. The sketches first appeared in the Monthly Packet and Aunt Judy's magazine. According to the Dictionary of Eminent Welshmen, by T. R. Roberts, Gwynfryn is the pen-name of Dorothea Jones (1828-1885) of Gwynfryn Hall in the parish of Llangynfelyn, Ceredigion. (Library Hub). First published 1875.
