By Barry Cockroft (1932-2001), television documentary director and writer, whose work included accounts of Hannah Hauxwell who lived alone on a remote farm in the Yorkshire Dales, and a family of Romany Gypsies living in the York area, who attended the Appleby Horse Fair.
